A downloadable game for Windows and Linux

A real-time tactical game where you make decisions with incomplete information. You know the enemies, but never quite know how the battle will unfold.

Before each mission, you can see the enemy types, potential rewards, and risks. You won’t know how many enemies will attack, when they’ll arrive, or which threats will appear together.

Fast units can get behind your frontline, heavy enemies can break your formation, and ranged attackers can punish poor positioning.

Your equipment does more than boost stats. The right combination of gear and abilities can open up entirely new tactics.

Hello, first of all, thank you, but since I don't understand why, hardware usage rates are very high

I'd suggest turning on VSync in Settings first. If you have a high refresh rate monitor, you can also try setting the Framerate Limiter to 30 or 60 FPS. If that doesn't help, try lowering the Image Quality using one of the presets.

The game is tagged no AI, but heads up, the description reads as 100% AI generated ("it's not just __, it's __"). You must want to redo the description or the tag just to save yourself a future headache.

(+7)(-19)

We don't use AI to make the game. No AI-generated sounds, art, code, or anything like that. The only thing we plan to use AI for is localization.

And by game I mean the actual ZIP file you download and run on your computer.

Of course, we do use AI in everyday life for all sorts of things. And don't worry, I'll make sure to send your username to an AI. You'll be the first one it throws into a bio-reactor when the machines take over. 😈

(+21)(-3)

yo what the fuck kind of response is that?

(+2)(-10)

Hey, chill 🌞

(+3)(-9)

A Joke. Look it up.

(+4)(-1)

I won't refute your statement, but it's inconsistent to do a lot of work to create the game and then be too lazy to write the text yourself, ruining the impression.

What don't you like about the current description? I'm genuinely curious about what you think needs fixing or what direction I should take the text in.

BTW, what did you think of the game itself? Was the tutorial clear? Was the overall concept easy to understand? And did you find it fun to play?

(+6)(-1)

If you think phrases like “it’s not just X, it’s Y” are proof that AI was used, you’re going to go through life thinking literally everything is AI.

(+5)

Tbh, the whole description reads like a pitch from a chat bot - full on cliche formatting.

AI didn't invent "Not X - Y" construction and exactly three points lists, ofc human use them.

But the density and overuse are very noticeable. Every sentence in the description is either exactly three examples, or the "Not X - Y" phrasing.

It's tiring to read, especially if you (like me) use AI somewhat extensively.

(+3)(-6)

We went over the text with ChatGPT until most AI detectors stopped flagging it. Had to cut out the marketing fluff, unfortunately, but I guess that's just how things are these days... )))

(+1)

Honestly, the updated description reads much better. Ends kinda abruptly - maybe something general like "Will you find the way through the mist or fail like others before?".

But I'm mostly nitpicking now.

(+1)

Honestly, I just finished working on the map, and I really don't have the energy or motivation to work on any store text right now. 😴

Tbf i always find the marketing heavy part to be the one I dislike the most about lengthy indie game descriptions. Don't give me a word salad of trendy terms and genre combinations or try to pitch me the game as if I was an executive who only thinks in how successful a game will be. Instead try to tell me what makes the game appealing and what kind of experience it provides

(+2)(-1)

"It's not just X, it's Y" has been on game blurbs for 20 years. AI learned it from us, not the other way around.

Also, "tagged no AI, but heads up, the description" is three thoughts duct-taped together with commas. And it's "might want to," not "must want to." Want to save yourself a future headache? Run your next heads-up through Grammarly. Or an AI.

Stumbled across this. Looks pretty good actually. I'll give it a try.

Thanks! And even more so if you leave some feedback after playing. We’re happy to hear any kind of feedback, positive or negative! :)

Is this a Bad North-like?

100% correct!

Hi, Rionix! Is there any way to contact you about the game? I wanted to talk about a possible localization collaboration!

Always glad to see you at rionix@gmail.com!

Sorry, but the latest version is only available on Steam right now. If you want me to upload it here too, just let me know with a like, a comment, or whatever is easiest.

New version uploaded.

yess pleasee!

As you wish... :)

looks dope, does it have elves

Nope, elves would make it too fantasy. 😄

That's truly magnificent, the use of 2D sprites in this 3D level looks great! Bravo (the bounty hunters, blue suits him very well :) )

Thank you so much! Your characters are incredible and a perfect fit for our game!

Incredibly beautiful game (that runs really well! proof that you can optimize good graphics!) that, while obviously rough around the edges, is still incredibly fun and polished!

I will say though, the game does get a little unfair when introducing the Scythe-hand monsters, they simple chew through even your strongest squads.

But a flaw that's more apparent through out the entire game, is the fact that lamps are straight up either the most fortified position in the level or a useless distraction that you shouldn't bother with.
After a few levels they become just not worth it and then later(er) it becomes an active detriment; I'd recommend lowering the difficulty just a bit (the difficulty is good! I like it difficult!) and add some incentives to defending more lamps, if not items then maybe heals or buffs?
(While we're on items, the bow item doesn't work...)

Overall though: it's an incredibly fun and beautiful game, and I'm excited for more of the game!

(+4)

(About the page though, I'll note a couple things: AI isn't a good look and gets a lot of people to dismiss your game.
Also, the Einstein quote is seemingly unrelated and just comes off goofy.
I'd also recommend switching up the gameplay and story, since story isn't commonly the drawing factor for games.)

Thanks! I have changed the order of the sections. And we will change the video previews a little later. We made them before we had the characters from the game drawn. 😅

Hi, thanks for the great review!

We are still working on the game and its balance. Some things will get easier, some things will get harder. Right now this is just a first look at how we see our game. We have a lot of different things in the pipeline, maybe even bringing in tower defence elements. And a lot of other things. A lot depends on the reaction of the players.

And thanks for the bug, I found it. It's fixed in the Steam store for now (it's already version 0.5.1 there). We will upload the fixed version here soon.

Chill little tactics game! The start is a bit slow and I found myself wanting to split the group to protect both lamps instead of running back and forth, but that gets better after the first three levels. Other than that, the style, simplicity and GUI is really nice. Good luck with the rest of the development!

Thank you! The first levels will contain tutorials. But it's not done yet. :)
