I've been making music for games and whatnot for a couple years now. I find it so much more fun to do jams like this with clear themes and challenges versus more traditional music for other things. I've always found it easier to do conceptual albums than just genre specific things, especially when ambience is the setting.

Hi, I'm Turtlebox, an award winning composer who with a portfolio consisting of over 100 game jam submissions, multiple commercial releases, and a history of composing for film and television aswell.

Here is a link to my discography via BandCamp and below is a list of my successful commercial releases, as well as some award winning Gamejam projects.

GrindHouse - /__site/theturtlebox.itch.io/grindhouse GrindHouse aims to give game developers, producers, and sound designers a pallete of harsh and painful tones blended with the iconic padwork. Created by sampling the sounds of industrial farming equipment, various types of sheet metal, and numerous percussive elements.

Letters & Memories - /__site/theturtlebox.itch.io/letters-memories Letters & Memories provided game devs, producers, and sound designers a open walk through the sounds of early 200s and late 90s ambience and pads, inspired heavily by Akira Yamaoka and retro Sample CDs. Created using the exact Romplers and techniques by Yamaoka during the production of Silent Hill 1 through Silent Hill 3.

Natural Pain - /__site/theturtlebox.itch.io/natural-paint-a-haunted-strings-ambience-collection A collection of haunting string based samples, produced entirely by myself in my home studio using exclusively analog software and live instruments. Dark and Atmospheric ambience for all needs.

Fable Rescored - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cUv8mv4w_NE&list=PL92YNWGgyTAseYuZskeweCWz21vyQVTzP a collection of orchestral tracks as part of a project in where I Rescore Fable: Anniversary. Composed entirely on my own and recorded in my home studio. A showcase of Organic and Traditional / Classical Compositions.

Sbox Game Jam Finalist (10,000$) - https://sbox.game/jco/drill I composed the OST for RUN IT AGAIN, the 2nd place (highest reviews) title in the sBox / Garry's Mod 2 jam. We took home 10,000$. This is one of the many publisher jams I've participated with in where we took home 1st or $$$ prizes.

Thanks! It's nice to hear from you again.

It's a good submission.

The repetitive nature makes the low volume kind of weird to navigate, I have to turn my PC volume up to 60 to hear this well which makes it feel like a lot to listen in.

A little to simple, to the point where your low end is kind of lost in the whole mix.

I feel like it's a bit far from the jam theme and vibe but it's a really good submission.

Really solid submission all around.

Fairly unique piece of work. Not much feedback to give, it's a good piece.

Really nice vibe, it's quite fun to listen through. Nice work.

Really lovely piece here, great work.

The mood and atmos here are great. Like others have said, the mixing is somewhat rough but it's really not bad at all

No streaming service?

These seem like two completetly different tracks that aren't really held together or on the theme of the jam.

I think some slight more energy would add a lot, but otherwise this is great.

Really lovely piece! Nice work

Not really ambient at all, but it's still good work.

The mix could use some work but everything surrounding it is quite nice!

Could you elaborate a little more with feeling these are too loud?

They're at the same intregated loudness as the rest of my work and I've never heard anyone say they're "to loud".  Like I'm at -1/-14 TP/LUFS. Which makes me think you mean loud in another sense?

I like the risk with focusing on texture and sound design as opposed to melodic composition. Great submission. I always love rogue entries like this.

An unfortunate amount of dryness in the mix here. Otherwise the tracks are fine in terms of composition and theory. The mix kind of pulls the overall quality down, which is a bummer because otherwise it's a fairly good submission.

Link to streaming service...?

Sorry but it's kind of unbearably loud. It's not bad but it's so loud and blown out it's unfortunately hard to listen to.

The energy is nice, it's not bad at all.

This feels a little to simple for what's usually submitted with the jams in a lot of aspects. It's not bad at all, but it seems sort of just like your met the challenges and didn't quite really build around that aspect.

The low strings, like other have said, are a little bizarre, but everything surrounding them is alright. Good submission.

Yeah it doesn't hurt the track at all, I hope you didn't take my comment that way. It's just something I wanted to point out in terms of feedback.

It's all good! This is a great piece. It combines a lot of what I talked about in other folks submissions about the balance between ambient noise (field recordings, ect) and ambience in musicality (drones, pads, ect)

Very well mixed, very well composed.

Fantastic first time entry.

Hit me up in the discord, send me some of your work and I'll be happy to talk about the mixing for each track and we can go over them and I can highlight more if that soundsl ike something you're interested in?

All of my production tutorials are about composition and freeware, but I've done lessons on mixing in the past

I think the adaptive idea is nice and a fun approach. However I think it's difficult to hear, it's on the quiter side of things.

Musically it's nice, but there are a lot of small chunks of transitional silence between what I assume are part of the adaptive approach to this.
