A quick update: I *do* want to start using runtime4, and on a technical level that's no problem. However on Steam the game is configured to use Sniper/rt3 because that's what the current release uses (which runtime the Steam client uses is configured on the backend). I like to run a beta branch on Steam alongside the main release, while I work on updates, because it's great for getting player feedback and adding it in. The problem comes in when I try updating the beta branch to rt4 - linux builds won't work on the beta branch because the game is still configured for Sniper. If I change the game config to rt4 then the beta will work but the current release stops working because it needs Sniper. It's a bit of a chicken - egg situation ๐
I've actually highlighted this as an issue over on Valve's github, to see if they can allow different runtimes on different branches. The issue is here if you're interested in tracking it: https://github.com/ValveSoftware/steam-runtime/issues/863
Here's hoping something comes of it!
