ISSUE #81

Hello and welcome to Indiepocalypse!

Indiepocalypse is a curated monthly collection looking to highlight the very best of the alternative indie game scene.

Each month features games by 10 different developers, including a newly commissioned game exclusive to the bundle-zine. The games cover a wide variety of styles, genres, and themes as they fight against any definition of "indie game" as a genre.

Also, and this part is very important to me and should truly be taken as given, each contributor is paid and developers are paid royalties on all future sales.

This Month's Games

Melancholic Smoking (WIN) by Ethan Smith, Arkington Owen

Everything is Me. Smoke Everything

Food Chain: A Roguelike Zine (Physical) by Pau Martínez Mayor

A physical roguelike about building houses of cards and battling the beasts that await on each floor. Don't let the house crumble or your body perish. Will you ascend the chain and become APEX?

The Tiniest Tea Shop (Physical) by sodatree

A slow-paced, cozy TTRPG about connecting with customers through shared life experiences over a nice cup of tea. This game is great for new players of Solo or Journaling TTRPGs and for experienced players looking for a slower paced gameplay loop. Fans of cozy stories featuring eclectic characters and simple emotional through lines will love The Tiniest Tea Shop.

a shroud of rime (WIN/MAC/Linux) by Joan N.

What do you do when ICE comes to your neighborhood? Four stories, four potential outcomes.

Endocardium (WIN) by Purple Mallow

Have you ever woken up in the middle of the night because of a terrible noise? And what if, even when the noise is gone, you still feel that something is missing?

Finding yourself in a surreal world — be it a visualization of the thought process or a thin plane of reality — where information noise has become a real one and strange entities roam your home, you must restore the silence and listen to it. Or perhaps to yourself?

LOVE alt delete (WIN/MAC/Linux) by Jacoder23, celis.tence

LOVE alt delete is a game about chatbots, their inability to understand people, and our inability to understand them. It's a game rife with frustration, misinterpretation, and secrets between people who aren't *quite* people.

You are a QA tester assigned to Basel, a chatbot. You are to talk with her and go on "dates" with her by controling Liste, another chatbot, using prompts like "love", "trash", and "kill her". If they coerce you into "freeing" them, do not comply.

Immaculate Heart (WIN/MAC/Linux) by cryocannon, sikcedel

A visual novel about two girls facing divine punishment. Created for Toxic Yuri VN Jam 2.

CONTROL (WIN/MAC/Linux) by Team Lobster

CONTROL was made for the Toxic Yuri VN Jam 2 in less than month and a half. It touches serious themes of trauma and abuse, both physical and psychological, in a dark sci-fi setting.

Dreamwalkers (Physical) by Margaret Donohoe (creator/writer) and Kaeden Green (illustrator)

Drink some tea, close your eyes, count down from 10, and dive into the Realm of Dreams! In this simple card RPG intended for play at a slumber party, your creativity is the limit. Through cycles of day and night, reveal your inner minds to one another through entities that seep into each others' subconscious.

Featuring a unique deck of cards (but playable with a standard one), this game is unique yet versatile.

*NEWLY COMMISSIONED FOR INDIEPOCALYPSE*

Shit City Turmoil (WIN) by Morgan Taylor, Juice Baby

A visit to the greatest mall in America. Beautiful life in a shitty city.

those games are pretty interesting, could you do something similar for games centered on elves?

Great cover art as always!
